CLUB records tumbled in Peper Harow’s victory against Blackheath II in a high-scoring I’Anson Division? Three game.
Skipper Glenn Taylor made the highest individual score by a Peper Harow batsman and his partnership of 232 with Richard Peplow (62) was the highest for the first wicket. Blackheath could do nothing to halt the flow of runs on a benign wicket and Taylor hit 13 fours and an amazing 14 sixes in his 190 not out.
A total of 294-3 appeared to have put the game beyond Blackheath, but they gave it a really good go. M Hardcastle (83) and Ronny Harrison (59) handed out some equally harsh punishment in their second-wicket partnership and Oliver Arengo-Jones (56) weighed in with the fifth half-century of the match. A win was not out of the question, but then Khaqan Aziz took two key wickets and Mark Wilson (4-22) returned to blow away the tail. A valiant Blackheath were all out for 256 with 11 balls to go.
Tilford II gave a disciplined performance to beat Headley II at The Green. Playing on the pitch closest to the Barley Mow meant that bowlers had little margin for error and Headley were less successful in defending the short boundary. A half-century from Johnny Barran gave Tilford the platform to reach a competitive total of 172 The returning Ashley Canning took two early wickets and Andy Coutts and Charlie Neville picked up three apiece as Headley made good progress once Coutts had yorked Barran for 53.

Alton score stoppage-time equaliser to earn draw at Eversley & CaliforniaJames Clements tested the Headley openers, but it was the in-form Barran who made the critical breakthrough by dislodging Charlie Neville and then claiming Peter Messina via a full-toss and return catch. Tilford then never looked back and Martin Knott and Rick Austin cleaned up the rest of the batting. Headley all out for 103.
Bramley, asked to bowl in helpful conditions, were in control from the first ball to the last against Grayswood II. Dan Burstow and Rory Brooks-Kent began the collapse as Grayswood slumped to 36-6. There was no respite against spinners Ali Holmes (3-9) and Ed Evans and only a defiant partnership between Tom?Cooley and Rob?Rist helped the visitors reach 68 all out.
Chasing low totals can often be tricky, but Holmes (35 not out) and Tim Fraser (20 not out) batted coolly and completed a 10-wicket victory in 18 overs.
Kingsley made it back-to-back wins, beating Milford by 18 runs in a close-fought game. The visitors did well to reduce Kingsley from 180-3 to 205 all out. Nick Randall (62) and Paul Boxford (42) batted particularly well before Ben Green sliced through the late order with 5-24.
Green followed up with a disciplined 53 for Milford and a valiant 34 from number 9 Matt McConnell kept the visitors in the hunt. Steve Cooper (5-32) had the last word, though, and the last wicket fell at 187.
Puttenham II slumped to a third straight defeat as they managed just 97 in answer to the 213 posted by Dogmersfield II. The visitors were in all sorts of trouble against Adrian Van Niekerk, but number 7 Mansoor Bashir came to the rescue with a superb 111, well supported by Imran Abbas. It was a remarkable recovery and Puttenham had no real answer as Jamal and Cantell got amongst the wickets. It was all over in 27 overs.
Grayshott III are finding it tough going after their opening-day win. Wood Street bowled them out for 84 in 32 overs, with Jake Slyfield taking 5-29 and only Fred Pennel passing 20. Liam Binfield (43) and Stewart Jerrome (27 not out) made short work of the modest total.
There were two centurions in the I’Anson lower divisions. In Division Five, Cieran Spicer Jnr hammered 105 not out as Chiddingfold II amassed 303-6, predictably a winning total against Blackheath III.
Anirban Roy, meanwhile, played a remarkable innings for Grayswood III who beat Shalford II. Coming in at number 9, Roy hit 16 fours and four sixes in an undefeated 118.
In Division Four, opener Akbar’s 98 propelled Grafham & Smithbrook to 255-5. Sohail Ahmed struck a defiant 98 out of 140, but could not save Badshot Lea II from defeat.
