Newly-promoted Alton continued their impressive start to the season with a five-goal victory over Havant at Amery School.
A confident Alton side, with a blend of youth and experience, put Havant under pressure from the start, but early opportunities went begging.
Pete Wallace had a short corner well saved by the defender on the line before the pressure eventually told and Josh Davidson finished from close in to put the home side ahead.
With only a one-goal lead to show for their efforts at half time, the second half could have been a nervy one for Alton. But once Davidson had added his second, a clinical finish from a short corner, and then completed his hat-trick the result was beyond doubt.
Pete Wallace scored with a fine reverse stick finish after good build up work by Theo Bentley to make it 4-0 before David Wilson added the fifth with a direct shot from another short corner.
Callum Mackenzie continued to impress for Alton with his determination and energy.
The outstanding performance of the day came from Dave Harvey in the Havant goal who pulled off a series of excellent saves.
The game was played in the right spirit and and was well officiated, which contributed significantly to the flow of the game.
