JUST 11 Farnham Runners made the long journey to the coast for the Netley 10km race, the 10th event of 12 in the Hampshire Road Race League.
The three-lap route in the Royal Victoria Country Park is fairly flat, but includes inclines at the start of each lap and sharp turns.
Farnham men’s A began the day top of Division Two, but a third place here dropped them to third on aggregate. So captain John Phillips will have to mass his troops for the final two races, with Isle of Wight Road Runners (17pts), Salisbury (19) and Farnham Runners (20) all in contention for promotion.
James Clarke recorded an impressive 36mins 36secs for 15th out of over 500 starters. Ali Hardaway clocked 41-58 (4th M50), James Bracey 42-39 and John Phillips 44-16, with Tim Cummins managing 45-19 in support.
Emma Russ led in the Farnham ladies with 45-04, while Linda Tyler achieved a personal best 45-49 for the W55 prize. Eloise Stradling completed the A team with 49-17, giving them sixth place and a safe eighth overall out of ten clubs in the top division.
Anne Snelson led the B trio in 50-09, followed by Jane Georghiou (51-57) and Helen Bracey (PB 56-28) for eighth place in the top B division.
