EIGHT Farnham Runners entered Ryde Harriers’ ten-mile race which was a Hampshire Road Race League event.
In chilly and breezy conditions, the runners tackled a hilly route that took them from Ryde to Nettlestone to St Helen’s and back again.
Farnham fielded full men’s and ladies A teams, but the B and C sides were incomplete.
James Clarke was first home for the club by over six minutes, finishing 27th in 1hr 2mins 4secs.

Alton score stoppage-time equaliser to earn draw at Eversley & CaliforniaNeil Ambrose recorded a personal best 1-7-59, while John Phillips and Nick Hill managed 1-11-32 and 1-17-01 respectively. This gave the men tenth place (aggregate tenth).
The ladies finished a fine third in the top division and remain seventh in the series. Club stalwart Eloise Stradling clocked 1-14-04 to finish 20th and sixth senior lady.
Jane Georghiou won her age group, just 10 seconds short of the category record, in 1-19-30, soon to be followed home by Lindsay Bamford in 1-19-57. Linda Tyler, who had completed a tough 16km cross-country the day before, settled for 1-25-16. Both were fourth in their categories.
Mike Anderson flew the flag for Farnham at the Chichester 10k race.
Having set a new club record at the Stubbington Green 10k, he deducted almost half a minute on the new course at Chichester. His time of 38-54 won the M60 category in a competitive field.
For the second time, Farnham Runners entered a full team in the South of England Cross Country Championships held at the iconic Parliament Hill Fields on Hampstead Heath.
Reversing the positions of last year, Kayleigh Copeland (38-06) pipped Eloise Stradling (38-12) to the line.
Emma Pearson (39-08) and Lindsay Bamford (40-59) put in strong performances for the remaining scoring places and Farnham were 40th out of 63 teams.
Jane Georghiou (43-18) kept just ahead of Fiona Carle (43-30) and Linda Tyler (44-20) who both experienced the tough conditions on the Heath for the first time.
