Tristan Abrahams scored a first-half hat-trick to fire Aldershot Town to a superb 3-1 win at home to Harrogate Town in the National League.

The Shots produced an impressive performance in front of a crowd of 2,245 at the EBB Stadium to earn their second win of the season and make it seven points from their first four league games.

The Shots had the first chance of the evening in the seventh minute when Conor Lawless’ corner found Michee Efete, whose powerful header went just over the bar.

The visitors nearly went ahead on 11 minutes when George Thomson flashed a dangerous low ball across the box which Shawn McCoulsky was just unable to get on the end of.

Aldershot should have taken the lead in the 15th minute when Nino Adom-Malaki slipped a pass through to Abrahams, who cut the ball back to Marcus Dinanga in the middle of the box, but Dinanga’s right-footed finish went just over the bar.

Harrogate went close on 23 minutes when Brayden Johnson dinked a pass over the top to Bradley Dolaghan, whose left-footed effort was comfortably held by Shots keeper Nick Hayes.

The Shots took the lead a minute later when Dinanga flicked the ball through to Abrahams, who confidently buried his left-footed finish past Harrogate keeper Mark Oxley into the bottom right-hand corner of the net.

Aldershot nearly doubled their advantage in the 27th minute when Basil Tuma played a lovely one-two with Dinanga before playing the ball out to Abrahams on the left, who took a touch before firing his effort over the bar.

The Shots did score a second on 31 minutes when Kiki Oshilaja showed quick feet in the box before finding Abrahams, who drilled his finish into the bottom left-hand corner of the net.

The Sulphurites should have pulled a goal back in the 33rd minute when Thomson’s corner found Tom Bradbury at the back post, but he put his header wide of the target.

Aldershot nearly scored a third a minute later when Abrahams fired a crisp pass to Dinanga, who drilled a low left-footed effort goalwards which was well saved by Oxley.

The end-to-end nature of the match continued and the visitors had the next effort at goal in the 38th minute when Thomson's curling right-footed shot was well blocked by Tyrese Dyce.

The Sulphurites then won a free-kick in a dangerous position just outside the box on 45 minutes, but Thomson's curling right-footed effort went over the bar.

Abrahams capped off a dream first half in stoppage time when he completed his hat-trick. A corner from the left was headed out to Abrahams on the edge of the box, who drilled a clinical left-footed finish into the bottom right-hand corner of the net to put the Shots 3-0 up.

There was still time for Harrogate to have one more chance before the break when McCoulsky got in on goal, but he blazed his right-footed effort over the bar from a tight angle.

The Sulphurites had plenty of work to do to get back into the game in the second half, but they made a good start and pulled a goal back in the 55th minute when Thomson's cross from the right was headed out to substitute Josh Hmami, who took a touch before guiding his finish into the bottom left-hand corner of the net.

The visitors nearly scored a second on 64 minutes when McCoulsky played the ball across from the left to the unmarked Thomson, who took a touch before firing a shot goalwards which was superbly blocked by Dyce.

Shots boss Scott Davies made his first substitution of the evening on 72 minutes, with Marcus Wyllie replacing hat-trick hero Abrahams.

Davies made his second change six minutes later with Brody Peart replacing Dinanga, although Peart had to wait a minute to enter the fray after referee Tolu Sangowawa deemed Dinanga took too long to get off the pitch.

Harrogate nearly scored a second in the 82nd minute when Dominic Odusanya produced a superb block on the goalline to deny Morgan Williams, who had drilled his effort goalwards from the edge of the box.

The Sulphurites went close again a minute later when Lewis Cass drove into the box and fired a powerful right-footed effort goalwards which was parried away by Hayes.

Davies made his third substitution of the evening on 85 minutes, with Kwaku Frimpong replacing Lawless.

Cass almost scored for the visitors three minutes later when he rose highest in the box and headed just wide of the top left-hand corner.

Six minutes of added time were indicated, but the Shots saw the closing stages out well to earn their second win of the season and continue their encouraging start to the campaign.
