Ed Dryden’s double and Zak Nash’s composed finish completed a fine comeback for Alton, who beat Tadley Calleva 3-1 despite going behind in the second minute.

Tadley’s first move resulted in a corner from which Jack French was allowed a free run to head home, unchallenged, from six yards out.

With their tails up Tadley bossed the opening 15 minutes with the Brewers largely chasing shadows.

Alton grew into the game and looked the better side as the half wore on. Matt Benham and Jamal Branker had efforts from range as the hosts forced Tadley back.

The Brewers deservedly got an equaliser just before half-time when Branker’s back-post corner was headed home by Dryden.

Alton were the better side in the second period and took the lead late on when Jamie Phillips’ cross was nodded home by Dryden from close range.

The Brewers scored a wonderful third on the counter-attack in stoppage time. The ball was swiftly played forward to Nash, who slipped the ball past Tadley keeper Donnacha Burke to seal a thoroughly-deserved win.
