Alton will be gunning for glory in the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup on Saturday.

The Brewers face familiar opposition after being drawn away to fellow Combined Counties Premier Division South outfit Tadley Calleva.

Alton lost 1-0 at Tadley last season before drawing 2-2 at Anstey Park in the reverse fixture, and manager Kevin Adair is expecting another close game.

“We had two really competitive games against Tadley last season, so I don’t expect anything different this time,” he said.

“Although they finished above us in the league we proved we can more than compete with them in a one-off game.

“We don’t worry too much about the opposition – it’s about us playing our own game well.

“We know we’re not going to get to Wembley, but everyone wants to be in the FA Cup and to get some glory with a win.

“It’s also a good chance to bring a bit of money into the club.”
