RESURGENT Badshot Lea moved closer to mid-table in the Combined Counties League Division?One with an emphatic victory at near-neighbours Ash United.

The Baggies felt comfortable at Shawfield Road, where they used to play their home fixtures, and after an early let-off when Ash hit the crossbar from a free-kick, always looked in control.

The visitors took the lead after 13 minutes when smart work by Nick Thumwood set up Danny Turner to score a well-taken goal.

Thumwood had an outstanding game and was involved in all three goals in the first half.

He scored the second himself on 28 minutes and then laid on an excellent pass for Darren Blake to make it three in the 33rd minute.

It remained 3-0 at the interval and, six minutes into the second half, Badshot Lea lost the influential Thumwood to an injury after colliding with the goalkeeper.

Soon after, Neil Hardy pulled one back for Ash, but the Baggies wrapped things up in the 87th minute when substitute Brad Smith added their fourth goal.

Badshot Lea host South Park at Camberley’s Krooner Park this Saturday.
