WINDSOR 6, BADSHOT LEA 0

BADSHOT Lea’s relegation plight grew worse with a six-goal hammering at mid-table Windsor on Saturday.

It was the Royalists’ biggest win of the season in the Combined Counties Premier League, yet Badshot Lea were on top in the opening minutes and hit the woodwork twice.

It all changed when Windsor took the lead after 10 minutes. Barry Dunbar picked out Robert Lazarczuk who slammed the ball home from close range.

The Baggies continued to press and it might have been a different outcome if they had taken a quick opportunity to equalise. Kurt Greenaway turned past centre-back Andy Ingram, but his close-range shot was well saved by Hugo Sobte.

Windsor really turned up the pressure and should have doubled their lead when Kieran Knight broke through, only for Jordan Stepney to make a vital interception.

The match then swung Windsor’s way dramatically, as they scored three times in three minutes.

First, Emmanoyil Goganos struck a dipping 30-yard effort that beat keeper Lee Allen all the way. Windsor’s third was almost as good, Robert Lazarczuk finding the top corner from 25 yards.

And the Baggies knew it was not going to be their day when Nadir Shafi’s shot from the edge of the box struck Craig White’s back to completely wrongfoot Allen.

There was no way back for the visitors. It was 5-0 on 58 minutes when another shot from Shafi hit the post, leaving Dunbar with an easy finish.

Finally, Josh Pound turned Denzel Bonilla-Hurtado’s cross into his own net for the sixth.

It could have been seven, Goganos only being denied by Allen’s feet.

Badshot Lea: Allen, Wright, Pound, Blake, Blackie, Stepney, Borishade, Goulter, Connolly, Nditi, Greenaway. Subs: Ford, Frisby, Charles.

* Badshot Lea’s home game with Chertsey was postponed on Tuesday. They host third-placed Hanworth Villa this Saturday. On Tuesday (Jan 24), they travel to Spelthorne Sports.
