Badshot Lea manager Gavin Smith admitted a draw was a fair result after his side drew 0-0 at Chipstead in the Isthmian League South Central Division on Saturday.
Both sides created chances to claim the win, but the points were shared.
“We had more possession and created more chances and maybe could have won the game, but I think Chipstead did enough to deserve a point,” said Smith.
“We hit the crossbar and had some other chances, but a draw was a fair result.
“That’s the first 0-0 we’ve had in the league this season. We usually score in most games, but we also usually concede as well.
“The clean sheet was pleasing. Adam New was outstanding for us at the back.
“We’re starting to get some more players back from injury now and that is giving me some good headaches when it comes to team selection.
“Lamin Ceesay came off the bench and we’ve got good options again now, which is what you want.”
Saturday’s draw followed a 3-1 defeat at home to Hartley Wintney in the Isthmian League South Central Division last Tuesday night (January 30).
The visitors took the lead on the stroke of half-time thanks to Mason Obeng.
Reece Wylie then doubled Hartley Wintney’s advantage a minute into the second half.
The Baggies made a triple change on 50 minutes with Kareem Akinnibi, Lamin Ceesay and Anuar Ceesay coming on – but Jonathan Sanchez went off with concussion in the 56th minute, leaving the home side down to ten men.
Josh Keeya pulled a goal back on 77 minutes with a well-struck free kick, but Conor Lynch sealed the three points for the visitors when he made it 3-1 on 80 minutes.
Smith admitted Hartley Wintney deserved to claim the three points.
“Although they scored just before half-time we were actually happy to only be 1-0 at half-time as Hartley Wintney played very well,” he said.
“The second goal right after half-time was key. We then gambled and made a triple change – which you do when you’re 2-0 down – but unfortunately it backfired on us.”
