FARNHAM TOWN 2, GUILDFORD CITY 3.
FARNHAM played better than the score suggests on Tuesday night, but events conspired against them as City came away with the points in this Combined Counties Premier League match.
Shawn Lyle put Guildford in front with a goal timed at 14 seconds, but Town responded with some good football and were unlucky to be still behind at half-time.
Several decent chances came Farnham’s way and, eight minutes into the second half, they drew level when Jack Dillon beat Matt Petts at his near post after a great solo run.
But Farnham switched off at that point. They lost possession in midfield and Doug Ford, having an unhappy time at present, was sent off after bringing his man down just outside the area. From the free- kick, Leon Lalor-Dell placed the ball in the top corner.
Even with 10 men, Town had plenty of pressure, but were again punished at the back as they failed to clear their lines and Lyle scored his second goal.
Farnham pulled it back to 3-2 in added time, with Steve Ramsden calmly beating former Town goalkeeper Petts from the penalty spot.
Badshot Lea 2, AFC Hayes 2. Badshot Lea made a dream start at Shawfield Road on Saturday when Brad Smith converted a penalty after only two minutes. However, Josh Quadry put Hayes level shortly before half-time.
Early in the second half, the Baggies were awarded another penalty and this time Callum Sexton scored from the spot.
The home side had high hopes of registering a much-needed win as the final whistle approached, but Quadry scored his second goal in the 85th minutes and AFC Hayes held out for a point.
