ALDERSHOT TN 0, DOVER ATH 2
ALDERSHOT Town, after beginning the National League season with three straight victories, have now won only once in their last six games and have slipped out of the top five.
Yet they are only three points adrift of Dover who went top of the table with their win at the EBB Stadium on Saturday.
It was a tale of might-have-beens for the Shots who had two excellent chances in the first 25 minutes. A neat back-heel by James Rowe set up Adam McDonnell whose shot was blocked.
Rowe was again involved in a move which resulted in Jake Gallagher also having a shot charged down.
It was thus against the run of play when Dover took the lead in the 35th minute. The Whites took a corner short and the confusingly named Nortei Nortey crossed for Giancarlo Gallifuoco, an Australian, to head past Jake Cole.
In the second half, the lively Rowe struck a shot from distance, bringing a fine save from Mitch Walker.
But with 65 minutes gone, the visitors effectively had the points in the bag, thanks to a superb individual effort from substitute Kadell Daniel who won possession on halfway and swiftly made ground before beating Cole with a cracking left-foot shot.
Aldershot put in a strong finish, but Dover comfortably held out to record their first win on this ground.
