Farnham Town manager Paul Johnson was delighted with his side’s performance after they comfortably beat Snodland Town 4-1 in the FA Vase on Saturday.

Town took the lead on 38 minutes at The Memorial Ground when Adam Liddle’s cutback found Lewis Flatman, who fired into the top corner in emphatic style.

The second goal arrived on 50 minutes. Darryl Sanders slid the ball to Liddle, who took a touch before firing his finish into the far corner.

It was 3-0 on 63 minutes when a free kick was knocked down to Ryan Kinnane, who took a touch before burying his finish in the top corner.

Matt Gething pulled a goal back for Snodland on 83 minutes, but Postance restored Farnham’s three-goal lead in the 85th minute when he tapped home from close range.

The victory was Farnham’s first completed game for two-and-half weeks after last week’s game against Snodland was abandoned after 19 minutes, but there were no signs of rust.

“I thought we were good,” said Johnson.

“The boys have looked after themselves. Training has been sharp and just what we needed.

“We kept ticking over and the boys individually had their own bits to do – which they’ve done. They’ve all got a good attitude.

“The gap has been very frustrating, I’m not going to lie, but we were back at it.

“We were in the moment with momentum and then it all stopped. But to come back to a game like this – I thought we were excellent.

“We scored some good goals. I thought especially the first one – because it was coming across Lewis. It took a massive bobble and it can end up over the fence or in the top corner – but it ended up in the top corner.

“Ryan’s goal was excellent. For a centre-half, the touch and then to bend it in the top corner was superb.

“We broke well all game. We made a change from the abandoned game with Charlie up top, and that allowed Adam to do what he does.

“The previous game meant we could see what Snodland brought. We knew everything they could throw at us and we nullified it perfectly.

“We produced 90 minutes of controlled dominance. I don’t think Snodland had a spell in the game – which is massively impressive. Snodland are a good side.

“We were good all across the pitch. Pat Nash in goal had a couple of moments where his handling and his reactions were excellent.

“Darryl was excellent, putting goals on plates for people. He sucks two or three people in all the time. It’s the weight and the timing of the pass – the timing is so key.

“Charlie is expecting his first child and capped it off with a goal – so it’s been a busy week for him.

“The substitutes were good again and did exactly what we wanted. Shamal Edwards could have had a hat-trick and Owen Dean maybe could have done a bit better at the end with his chance.”

Next up for Farnham is the A31 derby at home to Alton in the Combined Counties Premier Division South on Friday night (7.45pm).

Town won 2-0 at Alton earlier in the season, and Johnson is hoping the crowd will enjoy a good game.

“We’ll look forward to Alton on Friday night – hopefully we’ll see a good game,” said Johnson.

“We’ve played Alton twice and they haven’t lived up to the billing – so hopefully third time lucky it’s a good game.

“Friday night football is a little bit different and something to look forward to.”
