Farnham Town manager Paul Johnson praised his side’s performance after they won 2-0 at home to former Football League outfit Torquay United in the National League South.

Second-half goals from Darryl Sanders and Rakish Bingham fired the Town to all three points and earned Farnham a second successive win after their 2-1 victory at Horsham.

“It’s a great day for the club and it's been a great weekend on the pitch for us,” said Johnson.

“We've had to make a couple of slight adjustments in how we defend and the structure off the ball.

“It's most probably taken a little bit of shine off us on the ball, so we've got to get the balance right with that, but over the weekend we've been excellent off the ball.

“It was a strange first half – there wasn't really anything in it.

“We let Torquay have the ball and were waiting to frustrate them and see if we can pick them off.

“The grass was long, which doesn't suit us, and in the first half the ball was getting trapped when we were trying to break on them. It was a bit of a non-event in the first half.

“At half-time, we told the players to understand the pitch.

“We were trying to be so direct and quick on the break and it was getting stuck under our feet.

“We had to adjust, realise what the pitch was, and overhit things, because we knew it would hold up. In the second half, we adjusted so much better.

“The second goal was a little bit of what we're about. Billy Clifford did extremely well and Rakish got his goal that we've been craving for him to get.

“Rakish put a shift in for the boys off the ball – I thought he was excellent when he came on.”
