TWO goals in six second-half minutes made it three wins in four over the tough Christmas and new year period for rejuvenated Aldershot Town on Saturday.
Ethan Chislett made it three goals in two games on 63 minutes and striker Mo Bettamer found the net on 69 as the Shots ended a busy spell with a 2-1 win at Wrexham.
And they were only denied a clean sheet when JJ Hooper netted a consolation goal for the home side deep into stoppage time.
The win, which follows home wins over Stockport County and Eastleigh and a goalless draw with Barnet, moves the Shots up to 16th place - just eight points off the play-off places.
In the Premier Division of the Combined Counties League, resurgent Badshot Lea continued their revival with a second 4-1 home win in as many weeks.
Having blown away Egham Town last Saturday to end a miserable six-game losing run, goals from Brett Denham, Adam New, Tom Cursons and Jason Cotton saw Lea come from behind to beat Sheerwater at Westfield Lane.
The win leaves Lea in 13th place, but within striking distance of Balham in tenth.
In Division One, Farnham Town underlined their promotion credentials with an important 2-1 win at fourth-placed Tooting Bec.
An early penalty from Jack May and a header from strike partner Charlie Oakley from a Joe Sowden cross saw Town cruise into a 2-0 lead at the break before commanding centre half Mo Sabo was given his marching orders for two yellow cards on the hour.
Bec, who groundshare with Tooting & Mitcham United, pulled a goal back two minutes later, but Town dug deep to secure their first win since December 7 to consolidate third place.
In the Sydenhams Wessex League, Premier Division leaders Alresford Town had their lead cut to just three points as they were beaten 1-0 at fellow title chasers AFC Stoneham.
Matt Bainbridge scored the only goal of the game five minutes into the second half to condemn the Magpies to their fifth defeat of the season.
And Alton Town’s nine-game winning run in Division One was brought to an abrupt halt as they were beaten 3-1 at home to Isle of Wight side Newport, with Phil Moore’s penalty nothing more than a consolation for Kev Adair’s side.
