Manager Colin Millard rues Farnham Town's inconsistent displays as they slip to league defeat
Farnham Town’s inconsistent season continued when they crashed to a 3-0 defeat to Balham in the Combined Counties Premier Division South.
Town are either hugely impressive this season - or bitterly disappointing.
That’s not lost on manager Colin Millard, who said: "The inconsistencies I suggested we would have from day one of the season are no more evident than in this past week.
"We had a disappointing performance against Croydon, then a very good reaction in the county cup away at a strong Abbey Rangers, followed by an unrecognisable performance against Balham.
"Balham were very worthy winners.
"It is my job to find a solution to the inconsistency but, at the same time, it is the players’ jobs to perform on the pitch.
"The solution to the inconsistency will be found. Consistency of selection will help me.
"It’s true we were missing many players against Balham, but that’s an easy excuse. The players in this squad are expected to compete against each other to make my job as difficult as it should be to select teams.
"Maybe too many are resting on their laurels while others are out? Well, it’s time to step up."
The players will have the opportunity to impress tomorrow (Tuesday) night when Farnham entertain Horley Town in the first round of the Cherry Red Records Premier Challenge Cup at the Memorial Ground (7.45pm).
Meanwhile, Badshot Lea’s impressive season continued with a fine 2-1 victory at Fisher in the first round of the FA Vase.
Their reward is a second-round trip to play Stansfeld. They will travel to the Foxbury Avenue ground in Chislehurst, Greater London, on Saturday, November 20.
The Baggies are also in action tomorrow in the Cherry Red Records Premier Challenge Cup with a trip to Wallingford Town.
