BADSHOT Lea, although not at their best, beat Combined Counties League newcomers Kensington Borough with something to spare in Division One.

It was an 11th straight win for the Baggies and they remain just one point behind third-placed Cobham with a game in hand.

A third-place finish is likely to secure promotion back to the Premier Division for Badshot Lea, with front-runners Worcester Park and Sheerwater currently having no floodlights.

It was only a second clean sheet of the season for Mark Thomas’s side and that was largely down to Calum Nimmo who gave a true captain’s performance in defence.

Danny Turner put the Baggies ahead from the penalty spot and it was Turner who doubled the lead shortly before half-time.

A late goal by Nick Thumwood, Player of the Month for December, sealed the points for Badshot Lea who make the short trip to Eversley & California this Saturday.
