ALTON FC 7, FAWLEY 1

Alton put Fawley to the sword on Tuesday night, scoring seven goals against the hapless visitors at The Enclosure.

The Brewers were sent on their way by an own goal within seven seconds of the start.

It was believed to be the fastest goal ever scored by Alton, even if it was an own goal.

It was a fine all-round performance by Alton, although keeper Matt Petts still had to be watchful early on and made a few important saves to deny Fawley the lead.

Jack Chandler made it five goals in three games with a brace (34m, 78m), while Callum Burch, not to be outdone, took his tally for the season to 10 with a double of his own (39m, 65m).

Burch scored the goal of the game after a flowing Alton move involving the whole front line.

Danny Knee and Chandler worked the ball to Matt Bunyan who sent Burch through to finish clinically, giving the keeper no chance.

Bunyan, back leading the line for the Brewers, struck twice inside eight minutes after half-time, while Steve Green scored a consolation goal for Fawley in the 80th minute.

Alton: Petts, Hassell, Graham, B-Robinson, Williams, Hitch, Knee, Thomas, Bunyan, Chandler, Burch. Subs: Paddon, Channon, Grenham (all used), Corbett, Taylor.
