Petersfield Town continued their pre-season preparations with a 7-2 defeat at home to Southern League Premier Division South outfit Gosport Borough.

The Rams welcomed back former co-managers Pat Suraci and Joe Lea, and former manager and head of football Mark Summerhill, to Love Lane for the friendly.

Petersfield got off to a dream start and took the lead in the first minute through Ollie Davies’ deflected effort.

Gosport scored two quick goals through Jake Wright and Harry Kavanagh to turn the match on its head, but the Rams did not let their heads drop and were back on level terms in the 24th minute thanks to Davies’ free kick.

The teams went in level at 2-2 at half-time, but the visitors ran riot in the second half.

Former Rams Alex Barsa and Zak Sharp started the second half for Gosport, and the visitors soon regained the lead through Harry Medway.

Antonio Diaz scored Gosport’s fourth, before a triallist made it 5-2 to the visitors.

Brad Tarbuck’s penalty made it 6-2, before Barsa scored against his former club with a close-range free kick to make it seven.

Petersfield will continue their pre-season campaign with a trip to Millbrook today (Saturday). The match kicks-off at 3pm.
