SHOLING 6, PETERSFIELD TN 0

TOP-THREE side Sholing put six goals past Petersfield for the second time this season.

Lee Wort scored a hat-trick as hapless Petersfield lost for the 21st time in 26 Sydenhams Premier League matches, during which time they have conceded 115 goals and scored just 20.

The Rams, playing a high line, invited the Boatmen to put balls in behind and Wort and Marlon Mason gleefully exposed the lack of pace in the visitors’ defence.

The tactics were first rewarded on 26 minutes as Wort broke into the area and struck a fierce close-range shot that deflected off keeper Luke Eaton into the net.

Four minutes later, it was 2-0. Eaton did well to parry Rory Wood’s first-time shot, but the young striker made no mistake at the second attempt.

Three minutes after the restart, Mason fired in a low cross and Wort guided the ball inside the near post. And it was 4-0 on the hour-mark as Wood’s left-foot shot flew into the net.

Petersfield, to their credit, never let their heads drop and Jordan Geddes was unlucky to add to the tally with a spectacular own goal before Wort completed his treble with another clinical finish.
