ALDERSHOT will travel to East Thurrock United in the FA Trophy first round proper on Saturday, December 10.
The Rocks beat fellow National League South side Margate, who are managed by former Aldershot goalkeeper Nikki Bull, 2-0 in Tuesday night’s replay at the FutureFuel Stadium and now host the Shots for the first time since October 1992.
Saturday’s game had ended 1-1 after a penalty in either half. East Thurrock, managed by John Coventry, secured progress with two goals from the prolific Sam Higgins, who also scored in the first tie.
The Rocks are currently eighth in their division, on 28 points from 19 games. Higgins was the top non-league scorer in the country last season with 38 goals as East Thurrock won promotion to National League South via the Ryman League Premier Division play-off final.
Further information, including ticket prices, will follow.
Aldershot will be looking to progress to the second round for the first time since 2014. They reached the semi-finals in both 2004 and 2008, losing to Hednesford and Ebbsfleet respectively.
The FA Trophy is once again part of the FA’s Non-League Finals Day. The finals of the FA Trophy and FA Vase will both be played at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, May 21.
