A SPECIAL evening of football nostalgia, ‘To Make a Dream Survive – the Event’, will re-unite players, and managers, from both Aldershot FC and Aldershot Town on Saturday, November 21 (7.30pm).
All profits will go to the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice in Farnham.
The event will be hosted by Graham Brookland, author of To make A Dream Survive, published earlier this year. The well-received book chronicles the ups and downs of the two clubs, from the viewpoint of Bookland, a long-time Shots supporter and co-founder and former secretary of Aldershot Town FC.
Currently confirmed to attend the charity dinner are the following ex-players, managers and coaches who made their mark for both clubs: Gary Abbott, Darren Barnard, Barry Blankley, Murray Brodie, George Borg, Terry Brown, Nikki Bull, Glen Burvill, Mark Butler, Stuart Cash, Jason Chewins, Colin Fielder, John Grant, Ben Herd, Jack Howarth, Joe Jopling, Martin Kuhl, Tony Lange, Alex McGregor, Andy Nunn, Gary Phillips, Paul Priddy, Tim Sills, Steve Stairs, Jimmy Sugrue, Stuart Udal, Garry Waddock.
The group includes players who made approaching 5000 appearances collectively and scored 944 goals, as well as three championship winning managers.
Graham Brookland said: “There are so many stories that have emanated from my book that I thought it would be a great idea to hold an evening where fans can have plenty of fun reminiscing with former players and management, while being able to support a charity that means so much to me and my family. It should be a great event.
“My dad, who was also a Shots fan, was a patient at Phyllis Tuckwell in 2001 and the attentive and caring way that he was nursed in such a dignified manner is something that we will always be grateful for.”
An auction will also be held on the night in addition to a raffle. And plenty of Aldershot memorabilia will be on display.
Tickets for this unique fund-raising event are £27.50 per head or £250 for a table of ten.
