Ryan Davis’ double fired Whitehill & Bordon to a 2-1 win at home to Crofton Saints in the Hampshire Premier Football League Senior Division.

Conditions made it a war of attrition early on. The sun sat heavy over the baked pitch, and the first half passed without a clear opening as the sides cancelled each other out and went in level.

The game finally sparked after the break. Ciaran Judd provided the ball to Davis and the striker showed why he is so trusted in those positions, clipping it over the keeper to put the Stags in front.

Crofton were not done, though, and levelled soon afterwards to set up a tense final half hour.

The decisive blow came when Isaac Winzar crossed for Davis to slot home his second of the day, sending the home bench into celebration. The hosts held firm from there to see it through.
