FRENSHAM Sailing Club’s Open Day on Saturday was a rip-roaring success. The club site was crowded with visitors and for most of the day, before the rain arrived, the lake was bathed in sunshine with a very light breeze.
Club members were particularly keen to demonstrate that sailing is affordable and available for everyone, and they were kept very busy giving the visitors taster sails.
This went down extremely well, the result being that several of the youngsters are keen to start serious instruction in the near future.
The club kitchen was a hive of activity and a barbecue and ice-cream van did a good trade.
In short, the event was a real plus for a club which has a proud tradition for nurturing young talent and producing national and world champions.
