TWENTY-TWO Farnham Runners completed the Fleet Half Marathon, some having run the London Marathon the week before.

Postponed in March due to snow, the event was rescheduled by Fleet & Crookham AC and there were almost 2,000 finishers.

The Farnham contingent ran well and five achieved top-ten category places, with three of the men amongst the prize-winners.

First back was ‘ultra’ runner Stuart Haig in an excellent 1hr 25mins 51secs, a personal best by two minutes, placing him ninth in the competitive M45s.

Stuart Taylor recorded a fine 1-27-26, while first M60 was Mike Anderson in 1-29-16.

Colin Addison finished fourth M50 in a PB 1-29-30 and Charlie Hill-Venning just missed a sub 1-30 with 1-30-39. Then came Mike Taylor (1-31-24) and Ali Hardaway (1-33-15).

Emma Pearson ran a PB 1-34-14 to finish fifth F40 and 20th lady out of 600.

• Linda Tyler ran for Wales in the Great Birmingham 10km. Starting in the elite group, she came fifth in her category, clocking 46mins 39secs.

• Three Farnham members ran the gruelling Three Forts Marathon. Stuart Haig came 10th out of 253 finishers in 3-56-25, with Charlie Hill-Venning 26th in 4-17-10 and John Hill-Venning 27th in 4-17-31.
