ALTON Ladies suffered their first defeat of the season at the hands of local rivals Aldershot & Farnham.

A&F looked the stronger and better-organised team at the start and Alton did well to keep out several positive attacks.

The visitors eventually organised themselves and started to push forward, but paid the price when they lost the ball in midfield and Aldershot broke away to force a penalty corner.

Alton saved the initial shot, but Aldershot were awarded another short corner and a defender’s foot gave them a penalty flick which was dispatched with ease.

There were no meaningful shots from either side in the second half. Short corners were awarded, but neither side could convert and that earlier penalty was enough to give Aldershot the points.
