Petersfield Hockey Club’s men’s third team picked up an impressive 1-0 win at league leaders Lavant.
The third team were able to count on four substitutes – a very rare event for an away match.
Petersfield started the match with a more decisive attitude than their opponents, winning eight short corners in the first half.
Lavant came out strongly for the first ten minutes of the second half and won three short corners.
Petersfield regained control of the match, and after winning four more short corners finally managed to beat the excellent Lavant goalkeeper with a sharp shot from Matt Sabben-Clare.
Petersfield’s juniors performed well and distributed the ball effectively in midfield.
Skipper Roberto Casabianca was delighted with the result and is confident about the team’s chances for the rest of the season.
