Five Alton Rugby Club colts were part of the Peter Symonds College under-18 sevens rugby squad which won a bronze medal at the Association of Colleges National Championships in Nottingham.

For Alton under-18 colts team members Josh Bennett, Dom Cooney, Ollie Kavanagh, Liam Ray and Josh Wilks, it marked the end of having come up and been coached through the age grade system with Alton Rugby Club and playing at college.

The Peter Symonds College sevens rugby team had earned their place in the national tournament by winning the south-east England regional sevens tournament.

The team won six out of seven games at the national championships over the two days. On day one they beat Loughborough College, Hartlepool Sixth Form College, Bishop Burton College and USP (Seevic), but lost to Myerscough College. On day two they beat Hereford Sixth Form College and Exeter College.

As Exeter College had beaten Myerscough College, the top three teams had the same number of wins and the medals were awarded based on points scored. The Peter Symonds team won bronze.
