Farnham Rugby Club concluded their 15-a-side season last Saturday (April 29) as the third team returned with the Surrey Conference Cup – the only senior silverware of the season – following a tight 33-27 win against Barnes at Esher.

The third team’s win against Barnes came in the last play of the game after two tries from Jack Scullion, one each for Jarred Cooper and Tom Chandler and a penalty try. Chandler converted three tries.

Farnham third team skipper Mark Bains held the Surrey Conference Cup aloft, much to the delight of Surrey Rugby Football Union chairman and ex-Farnham player John Pownall.

Over the summer, the Farnham Hornets touch rugby squad will be out on Wednesday evenings at Monkton Lane and at tournaments on the weekends. Anyone interested in joining can turn up.
