Farnham Falcons produced an excellent 24-12 victory at Horsham.

After a slow start to the season the sixth-placed Falcons were coming into the game on the back of three victories, but were up against a strong Horsham side lying third in the table.

Farnham started with some strong direct running from their forwards leading, in the first ten minutes, to a pick and go try from a ruck close to the line from number eight Holly Thompson.

However, Horsham fought back and scored their own try to level the score.

The game then oscillated, with both sides making significant yardage but unable to score before turning over the ball.

However, eventually lock Jo Holmes handed off two players to run in from the 22 and make the score 12-5 at half-time.

The second half started as an evenly matched affair, and Horsham quickly scored a converted try to level the scores at 12-12.

Farnham then scored the best try of the game. Direct from a scrum, the backs did a well-rehearsed loop move and then kept the ball alive in contact in the outside channel to put full back Emma Mortimer over in the corner. This took the score to 17-12.

And in the final quarter Farnham stepped up their defence and used intelligent kicking into space to pin back Horsham in their own half.

Eventually this led to a scrum to Farnham close to the Horsham line, and after a series of forward drives prop Steph Thompson managed to dive over for the bonus point try.
