Ryan Wilson (second from left) and team-mates show off the Calcutta Cup after Scotland’s 25-13 triumph against England last Saturday. The former Farnham RFC junior player tweeted: ‘Thank you to everyone for the messages. The support at Murrayfield yesterday was incredible, still hasn’t quite sunk in! What a bloody day, one that will never be forgotten! Calcutta Cup.’

The Scotland No 8, who was a pupil at both Frensham Heights and Lord Wandsworth College, is having an excellent Six Nations, but there were ramifications for Wilson after footage showed him apparently jostling with Owen Farrell and George Ford in the Murrayfield tunnel following the pre-match warm-up. However, the players will not face disciplinary action. Six Nations organisers gathered evidence from both teams, the BBC and match officials, and said there was ’no evidence of violent conduct.’ The statement continued: ’There was some evidence of pushing and shoving in the tunnel at the relevant time, but no clear evidence of violent conduct or similar against any individual player.’

In a further development, Wilson appeared before a disciplinary hearing on Wednesday after being cited for allegedly gouging. But he is free to face Ireland in the Six Nations on March 10 after being cleared of intentional foul play. The disciplinary committee did not uphold the citing, which Wilson denied.
