STELLAR’S women’s artistic gymnastics squad enjoyed their most successful year on record when 27 gymnasts took their grades at the south-east regionals at the Guildford Spectrum.
After missing out on grades for two years because of the pandemic, the gymnasts were anxious to take to the floor.
But all of them overcame their nerves to pass their respective grades.
It was a busy event with 31 clubs – and 351 gymnasts – from across the south east region attending.
Head coach Hannah Fox said: “We are very proud of all the girls.
“For grades they must perform a set of requirements to a high level of execution. We start working on the routines months in advance to ensure they come out with the highest scores possible.
“The biggest challenge for the coaching team is to keep the momentum going over the weeks and months to ensure the girls peak at the right time.”
Grade one gymnast Bonnie Monk finished seventh for her age category with a second- place finish on beam.
Grade three gymnast Freya Swain enjoyed an incredible competition and came second overall in her age category, with a first-place finish on vault and third on beam and floor.
Fellow grade three gymnast Neve Pepper came in eighth for her age category.
At grade four, Elsa Antrobus finished in tenth place for her age category and at grade five gymnast Olivia Fridge came in third for her brilliant range and conditioning routine.
The gymnasts are now looking forward to learning new skills ahead of their next competitions.
