Farnham town mayor Graham White and mayoress Judy White visited Badshot Lea Tennis Club to view the club’s recently-improved courts.

Badshot Lea chairman Gillian Hyman welcomed the mayor and mayoress to the club after they received a grant from Farnham Town Council to go towards the retreatment of the surface of the courts.

It is hoped the work will extend the life of the courts for a further four years before a full resurface will be required.

Club members took the opportunity to explain the club’s needs to the mayor, while sharing some refreshments.

Farnham Town Council also awarded a grant to the Return Tennis coaching team at Badshot Lea Tennis Club for holiday activities.

The grant covered the cost for families that could not otherwise afford for their juniors to play tennis.

Head coach Matt Marlow contacted Hale Community & Youth Centre for juniors to sign up.

Three six-hour sessions were held at the club in August, with more than 20 attendees for each session.

One of the players who attended a session has already signed up to tennis lessons with the club. Anyone who would like a free trial lesson should email [email protected] to get in contact with Matt.

Badshot Lea Tennis Club welcome people of all ages to come along and give tennis a try. The club runs adult and junior coaching sessions.

Club sessions are held on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings. Membership is currently half-price until the end of March 2027.

The club has entered six teams in the Aldershot & District Lawn Tennis Association Winter League. The club’s courts are on the recreation ground behind the village green in Badshot Lea. They are available for public hire.
