A MODERATE westerly wind and cool weather aided the fastest two riders in the second Alton Cycling Club/Owens Cycles Thursday night 10-mile time trial of the season.
Pete Younghusband of Petersfield Tri repeated his top-two finish of the previous week and improved on his time by almost 15 seconds, recording 21mins 25secs.
But it wasn’t quite good enough to win as regular visitor Alan Murchison of Drag2Zero clocked 21-23 on his first appearance of the season in the Alton series.
Pete Christensen, representing Malta’s most successful cycling club, Mosta CC, took third place with 23-18 and new home club member James Allen was once again quickest of the three home jerseys with his 23-42.
Shaun Blow and Keith Parrish, having their first ‘10’ outings of the year, managed 24-38 and 26-37 respectively.
Eleven riders took part, while Alan Jacob, Eddie Stevens, Dick Weatherbed, Peter Remnant and Mike Hayward provided timekeeping and marshalling support.
