Developer Highwood has given £5,000 to Treloar’s.

It contributes £5,000 to a community project for every site it develops. This grant relates to land at Selborne Road where it is building a 67-bed care home and 28 age-restricted flats.

Highwood asked Alton Town Council where the contribution could best improve Alton.

Cllr Graham Hill recommended Treloar’s, and company representatives visited the site with Cllr Hill and Andy Brown, Treloar’s corporate partnerships manager, to see where it would be spent.

Mr Brown said: “We were delighted to receive a £5,000 grant from the Highwood group as part of their excellent giving back to the community initiative.

“The funds are going to be used for improvements to the gardening skills area of Treloar’s. Our students significantly benefit from learning these skills and positivity of growing and nurturing plants, and these monies will allow us to substantially enhance the area.”
