Farnham golfer Lottie Woad helped England’s women’s team to a best-ever finish at the World Team Championships in the United Arab Emirates.
The trio of Woad, Charlotte Heath and Caley McGinty put England in contention for the Espirito Santo Trophy on the final day, before eventually finishing fourth – beating England’s previous best of seventh.
After a slow start on day one, England made excellent progress on day two thanks to a two-under-par 70 from Woad, whose round contained 16 consecutive pars and finished with two birdies.
Woad shoot three-under on the third day as England moved into contention. Woad produced a four-under-par 68 on the final day as England narrowly missed out on a bronze medal.
In the individual standings, Woad finished in a tie for fourth on nine-under-par.
