A CYCLIST has died after suffering a cardiac arrest on the A31 Farnham Bypass on Monday evening.

Police responded to reports that a cyclist was in cardiac arrest at around 6.35pm on February 25, on the Farnham bypass just before the Coxbridge roundabout.

A spokesman for Surrey Police added: "The cyclist was sadly declared dead at the scene after being treated by paramedics.

"No other vehicles were involved and the incident is being treated as a sudden death. Enquiries remain ongoing."

Police closed the A31 westbound carriageway between Hickleys Corner and the Coxbridge roundabout while paramedics treated the cyclist, whose name, age and gender has not been released.

It came just hours after two people were rushed to hospital after a four-vehicle smash on the A31 Hog’s Back on Monday evening.

The crash, involving three cars and a lorry, took place on the westbound carriageway just prior to the Shepherd and Flock roundabout, at around 4.45pm.

Two people were injured; a male driver of a grey Nissan Navara and a female driver of a red Alpha Romeo. Both were taken to hospital.

A black Ford Focus and a Mercedes Lorry were also involved but the drivers were uninjured.

Surrey Police and South East Coast Ambulance Service attended the scene.

The A31 westbound between the A331 and the Shepherd and Flock roundabout remained closed for much of Monday evening while on scene investigations took place.
