ALTON-based glass worker Esme Marshwitch of The Glassy Witch has been creating sunflowers from glass powders to create a piece of glass art that is being raffled to raise money for humanitarian efforts in Ukraine.

The raffle is being held on the internet site raffal.com and runs until 4.35pm today (March 31). So far it has raised more than £300.

Esme said: “I know it’s not a huge amount in the grand scheme of things, but it was the only thing I had to offer.

“If all of us do whatever little we can, collectively we can move mountains and make a real difference to the people of Ukraine.”

At least 85 per cent of the proceeds will be given to the Red Cross who are already in place, carrying out vital humanitarian work. The remainder will be used to cover postage and some material costs.
