SOME 90 students from Eggar’s School in Alton travelled to Southampton to compete in the national Rock Challenge.

The Eggar’s team found themselves competing as one of eight schools in the heat for the South of England in the huge dance competition.

An Eggar’s spokesman said: “All the students had an amazing day.

“They performed beautifully and were rewarded with seven awards, including soundtrack, choreography, drama, lighting and performers choice (voted for by all the schools as the performance they enjoyed watching the most).”

The judges commented on the “excellent characterisation and highly skilled choreography” which, they said, was performed extremely well for such a large cast. It took the audience on an enchanting journey and was visually entertaining and exciting to watch.

In the event, Eggar’s was delighted to claim second place.

The youngsters must now wait until the end of March to see if they have qualified for the next round.

The spokesman added: “It was an incredible day and experience for all the students involved.”
