The 50th birthday of Four Marks Care is set to be celebrated by 100 people at Four Marks Village Hall on June 7.

There has been a great response to the charity’s Clients’ Day, which will mark the golden anniversary of its foundation in 1975 with a coffee morning and an afternoon tea.

Vice-chair Michael Oates said: “As it stands currently, we have circa 50 clients attending in both the morning and afternoon. It’s stacking up to be a busy day!”

Four Marks Care started when a few villagers came together to drive neighbours without transport to appointments at local GP surgeries, hospitals in Basingstoke, Winchester and Southampton, and further afield if required.

The half-century was also celebrated earlier this year by the distribution of discount vouchers to all clients and the installation of a commemorative bench at Lymington Bottom Green.

Mr Oates added: “We continue the good work started all those years ago.”
