ALRESFORD Art Society is running an eight-week beginners’ watercolour painting course starting on Thursday, October 13, and is looking for would-be artists to join in.

The courses start on October 13 and Society chairman Sue Gentry said: “We run classes in watercolour, oil, life and portrait painting during term time on a regular basis for our members, but from time to time we run a course starting from scratch when students can learn the basics.

“They will learn what paper and brushes to use to get the best results and during the eight weeks will learn about colour theory, composition, perspective and will master laying washes; how to create realistic skies and landscapes and use different brush strokes to tackle subjects like buildings, flowers and people.”

The class will take place at The Christy Hall in Old Alresford from 2.30pm-4.30 pm, with no class during half-term. The class fee is £80. For more details, e-mail [email protected] or call 01962 773185.
