FOUR Marks Parish Council is one of three community organisations chosen to receive a grant under a new initiative which could net up to £12,000 for a project in the village designed specifically for teenagers – but its success relies on your vote.

Tesco has teamed up with Groundwork to launch its Bags of Help initiative across England and Wales. Designed to improve green spaces in communities, the scheme offers community groups and projects in each of Tesco’s 390 regions across the UK a share of revenue generated from the five pence charge levied on single-use carrier bags.

The public now has the opportunity to vote in store on which three community groups and projects in their area should receive one of three grants – for £12,000, £10,000, and £8,000.

In Four Marks, people are being urged to cast their votes for a project to deliver a new teenage assault course, put forward by the parish council as part of the revamping of the skatepark area at the Uplands Lane recreation ground.

Four Marks Parish Council chairman Janet Foster said: “This is brilliant news for the teenagers of Four Marks who currently have nothing in the village. The teenage assault course is part of the revamping of the skatepark area and we are extremely excited to have been chosen to receive a Bags of Help award.

“Your votes count, so please go into any local branch of Tesco and look out for the tokens and details on how to vote. Please pass this on to all friends and family. The more votes we get, the more equipment we can provide.”

As one of three schemes put forward in the East Hampshire area, supporters of the Four Marks scheme have from tomorrow (Saturday) to Sunday, March 6, to cast their votes, either at the Tesco Express store on the A31 Winchester Road at Four Marks or at the Tesco Express store on Anstey Road, Alton.
