ALTON firm Contractor Financials joined in the excitement of the current season of Great British Bake Off by holding their very own ‘bake off’ to raise funds for its three chosen charities.
Following on from previous successful fundraising events, the company has now set up a charity committee which is aimed at raising money for specific charities close to the hearts of its employees. Over the next six months, the committee is holding bi-monthly fundraising activities, starting with the bake off, alongside monthly ‘dress down days’.
The chosen charities are Harbour Cancer Support Centre (based in Gosport), Pelican Cancer Foundation (based in Basingstoke), and national charity Shelter.
Harbour Cancer Centre provides cancer patients, their families, carers and friends with emotional and practical support while Pelican Cancer Foundation drives innovation in precision surgery for a range of cancers, through research and training.
Shelter helps millions of people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through advice, support and legal services.
Sat Singh, chief executive of Contractor Financials, said: “Setting up the charity committee has helped to bring the company together for some great causes, and it’s been a fantastic first event of many planned. The ‘bake off’ cakes were all delicious, and we even crowned two star bakers.”
