THE garden at Clover Farm at Shalden, near Alton, opened its gates to the public last Saturday as part of the 90th anniversary celebrations of the National Garden Scheme.
Despite an unpromising morning, it turned out to be a sunny day and attracted more than 240 visitors to enjoy the garden and tea on the lawn. There was an opportunity also to buy plants from Marcus Dancer’s fabulous selection of clematis.
The event raised nearly £1,000 for the National Garden Scheme nursing charities while £440.50 was raised for Shalden Church thanks to the sale of teas.
