A pub owner who supported a major charity event has received recognition from its organiser.
Barry Pethers, who runs The Royal Oak in Lower Farringdon, was invited to support the VE Day 80 Anniversary Convoy which ran through the village on May 10.
He collected donations for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal and added a percentage of the proceeds of a barbecue he organised on the day.
Villagers turned out in force to welcome and cheer all the participants, who included veterans and special guests.
Barry said: “The village has always come together to support past convoy events, but I wanted to make an extra effort this time because of the significance of VE Day 80.”
Stephen Gough of the Hampshire Royal British Legion Branch, representing organiser Commemorative Convoys, presented The Royal Oak with a Certificate of Thanks.
Stephen said: “The framed certificate is acknowledging the amazing help we received from Barry and from the people of Farringdon.”
