HOLYBOURNE Singers Chamber Choir is following the main choir in its passion for supporting local charities and is putting on an innovative concert this weekend.
The concert, in aid of the Living Space Project at Holybourne’s Church of the Holy Rood, starts at 7.30pm at St Lawrence Church, Alton, on Saturday.
This ambitious scheme will make the 11th Century church more accessible for the future, including toilets, storage, kitchen, new lighting and heating.
The vision is to meet community needs in a growing village and reduce running costs.
The concert will include Howard Goodall’s deeply moving Requiem, ‘Eternal Light’, premiered in 2008 and perhaps his most popular choral composition. The chamber choir’s unique performance will include dance performances by students from the Performing Arts Department at Alton College which will be presented on the multi media screens inside the church.
The programme will also feature the beautiful Fauré Requiem, one of Bruckner’s most well-known motets - Christus factus est pro nobis obediens and the sensitive Laudate Dominic by Mozart.
Tickets, priced £10, are available from Newbury Building Society, Alton, or by e-mail via [email protected]. Student tickets cost £5, under-12s get in free.
