A Liphook councillor has called for no more hew houses in the village until its rammed roads are eased.
The call by Bramshott and Liphook Parish Council deputy chairman Simon Coyte comes as Bloor Homes says it will submit plans for 100 houses on land off Chiltley Lane in the village.
Cllr Coyte, a parish councillor for about 20 years and lifelong Liphook resident, said: “We need to say we are full until road improvements are agreed.
“Six busy roads feed into the square and the area often grinds to a virtual halt.
“Before any more houses are built, a gyratory road is needed.
“But the only way that can be paid for is through developers’ contributions, so more houses would have to be built; it’s a Catch-22 situation.”
The consultation on the Bloor Homes proposal, that includes up to 40 affordable houses, closed on Monday (December 12).
The developer says it will study the responses and submit a planning application to East Hampshire District Council.
The Chiltley Farm estate website says the application will be delivered this December.
