The closing date for four of the five Alton in Bloom categories is Sunday, July 31.

Given Alton Town Council’s stance on climate change and environmental issues, residents are being asked to create a re-wilding area, grow food, do wildlife friendly gardening or plant a tree for the Platinum Jubilee.

The deadline for the fifth category, the tallest sunflower competition, is Tuesday, August 30.

There are Jubilee themed planters in the High Street, sponsored by Specsavers Alton, and a round Jubilee bed in the Public Gardens, sponsored by Headley Financial Services.

Photos received will be used for a montage at the All Things Local event in the Public Gardens on Saturday, September 10, and the Alton in Bloom Facebook page.
