Dispersal orders have been authorised to help Hampshire Police deal with reports of anti-social behaviour and public order incidents in Fleet and Aldershot on New Year’s Eve.

The orders, made under Section 34 of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, are intended to deter anti-social behaviour and allow police to use their powers effectively so people can enjoy celebrations safely.

Both orders cover the areas shown on police maps from 4pm on Wednesday, December 31, until 6am on Thursday, January 1.

Officers will be able to order people to leave the area and not return during the specified period. Anyone who refuses to comply commits a criminal offence and may be arrested.

Hart Inspector Lisa Eastlake said: “We have authorised dispersal orders for Fleet and Aldershot due to the high volume of people we are expecting to visit both town centres on New Year’s Eve.

“We want people to enjoy themselves and the celebrations on Wednesday night, but anti-social behaviour and public order incidents will not be tolerated.”

Rushmoor Inspector Mike Hall added: “Officers will be out on foot to reduce anti-social behaviour and to prevent crime from occurring. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to speak with a uniformed officer.”

Police are asking anyone who witnesses or is affected by anti-social behaviour to continue reporting it so patrols can be targeted and further proactive action taken.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or report online. If a crime is in progress, call 999.
