Nancy Barks – a Year 9 pupil at Osborne School – was awarded first prize in the additional needs category in the Show Racism the Red Card schools’ competition.

Nancy – who lives in Shalden – travelled to London to Arsenal FC’s Emirates Stadium to receive her prize, which was presented to her by ex-Chelsea player Paul Canoville.

To win the award, Nancy produced a poster with an anti-racism message.

Nancy’s teacher Carson Elday said: “The Show Racism the Red Card competition is a great way to engage with young people around issues to do with racism.

“Nancy produced a brilliant poster and we are so proud of her achievement.”
